Why does a tiler lose money on jobs that looked profitable?

Because the quote is priced on gut feel and nothing checks it against the real job. A bathroom refit turns into ten items — strip-out, levelling screed, wall tiling, porcelain floor, skirting, grouting — copied by hand onto a quote, then retyped onto the invoice. The upfront deposit gets chased by text, a grout touch-up is done off the books, and the before/after photos stay on a phone. At the end, nobody knows whether the job held its price. Constrigo brings the line-item quote, progress billing, touch-up orders and the photo journal together in one place, from the field to the office.

What Constrigo does for this trade

Line-item quotes & price library

You price a job line by line — strip-out, levelling, wall tiling, porcelain floor, skirting, grouting — with the quantity, the unit (m², linear metre, flat rate) and the VAT rate on each item. Your recurring prices save into a library: the item “20×20 ceramic, laid” or “self-levelling screed” drops onto the next quote in one click, at the same rate.

Quote to invoice, no re-keying

The client signs the quote online, with nothing to print or scan. Once the job's done, that quote becomes an invoice carrying over the lines, quantities and VAT rate of each item. You retype nothing: the wall tiling, floor and skirting priced at the start come through unchanged on the invoice, ready to send.

Progress billing & deposits

On a bathroom refit or a tiling package in a new build, you don't bill everything at the end. You take a deposit up front — enough to cover buying tiles and adhesive — then invoice the work package by package: strip-out done, screed poured, wall tiling laid. Constrigo keeps the running total of what's already collected and what's still owed.

Work orders & touch-ups

A snag at handover, a joint to redo, a tile that sounds hollow: every after-sales visit becomes a work order. The tiler notes what was fixed from their phone, the client signs on the spot, and the order stays attached to the job. You keep a record of the touch-up rather than a forgotten appointment and a snag left hanging.

Site journal & photos

The substrate before levelling, the tile layout marked on the floor, the finished wall tiling: each stage gets photographed and time-stamped in the site journal. If a client disputes a crack in the substrate or the look of a joint, you pull up the dated photo of the prep. Entries stay filed by job, with who did what and when.

Team scheduling

One job is waiting for the screed to dry, another is ready for wall tiling: the schedule shows who's where and who frees up when. You put each tiler in the right slot, they see it straight away on their phone, and Constrigo flags clashes — two jobs assigned to the same tiler the same morning — before they wreck a day.

Job profitability

Not every job pays the same. Constrigo sets what you invoiced against what the job cost — hours spent, tiles, adhesive, mortar — and works out the real margin. You can see whether your rate per m² held up, whether the levelling ate into the margin, and price the next bathroom on figures rather than gut feel.

Frequently asked questions

No, the take-off stays with you. Constrigo does not automate surface calculations or tile counts: you enter your quantities, measured on site or from a plan. Once the quantity is in, though, it handles the item — rate per m², unit, VAT — and reuses it from one quote to the next through the price library.

Go further

Tiling is only part of the job. Quotes, invoicing, team scheduling and profitability tracking follow the same logic in Constrigo. Browse the rest of the tool, or compare the plans based on the size of your business.

Typical use cases

How each type of construction business uses Constrigo

A small masonry firm replaces Excel and WhatsApp with a single tool: quotes, invoices, jobsites and scheduling in one place. The crew uses the app in the field while the office follows the dashboard — everyone sees what they need.
