Why does a painter redo the same quote three times before invoicing it?
A painting job is won or lost at the quote: surface prep, filler, primer, two finish coats, room by room, with the right VAT rates for renovation. Retyped in a spreadsheet, that detail gets lost, the deposit is never asked for, the same “wash down the walls” line is re-entered from one job to the next. Then the quote gets rebuilt for the invoice, follow-ups slip, and an end-of-job invoice sits unpaid for three months. Constrigo brings quotes, deposits, the site journal and follow-ups together in one place. The painter logs progress and takes photos from the site, you approve, and the office pulls up the client's history in one click.

StripeWhat Constrigo does for this trade
Detailed quotes & price library
You price by task: washing, sanding, filler, primer, finish coat, per m² or per room. Each line carries its quantity, unit, net unit price and VAT rate — full rate or the reduced renovation rate. Keep your common items in your price library and drop them from one quote to the next, without rewriting “ceiling paint, two coats” on every job.
Quote to invoice, no re-keying
The quote signed by the client becomes the invoice, line for line. The client signs it online, no printing or scanning, and you no longer retype the same painting items to raise the invoice. Each line's quantities, prices and VAT rates carry over as they are; you only adjust what changed on site before sending.
Progress billing & deposits
On a facade job or a full flat renovation, you don't bill everything at the end. Constrigo draws up progress billing: a deposit up front to buy the paint, then invoicing as the work advances, package by package — prep, primer, finishes. You keep sight of what's invoiced, what's collected and what's still owed, without fronting weeks of materials out of your own cash.
Site journal & photos
In painting, proof of work is visual. The site journal records dated entries with photos before, during and after: the state of the walls on arrival, the cracks made good, the finish applied. The painter takes them from their phone on site. You keep a timestamped record that heads off disputes — the day a client questions a touch-up or claims the crack was already there.
Team scheduling
One job runs late because the primer needs to dry, another client is waiting on their scaffold. The schedule shows which crew is on which job and who's free to start the next. You push a coat back when the finish has to wait until tomorrow, the painter sees their schedule on their phone, and Constrigo flags any overlap before a crew ends up in two places at once.
Work orders
A touch-up, a warranty fix, a patch after another trade has been through: every visit becomes a work order. The painter logs what they did and has the client sign on the spot, from their phone. The signed report goes back to the office and stays attached to the job's history — handy for telling a warranty callback apart from extra work to be invoiced.
Invoice reminders
The painter finishes the job, packs up the gear and forgets the invoice sitting there. Constrigo chases for you: an email reminder, then an SMS once the due date passes, and a formal notice if the client still doesn't pay. You set the sequence once, and every unpaid invoice follows it without you making the calls by hand — while you're on the next job.
Before and after Constrigo for a painter
The same daily routine — room-by-room quotes, deposits, photos, invoices — seen without trade software and with Constrigo.
| Without trade software | With Constrigo |
|---|---|
| The room-by-room quote retyped in a spreadsheet, the same “wash down” line rewritten on every job. | A detailed quote by package, common items dropped in from the price library. |
| The deposit never asked for, weeks of paint fronted out of your own cash. | A deposit up front and progress billing through situations. |
| The before/after photos scattered in the phone's gallery, nowhere to be found in a dispute. | Dated before/after photos in the site journal, ready if a dispute comes up. |
| The quote rebuilt from scratch to raise the invoice, with the risk of a copying error. | Quote signed online, converted into an invoice with no re-keying. |
| The end-of-job invoice sitting unpaid for three months, for lack of a follow-up. | Automatic reminders: email, then SMS, then a formal notice, on the right dates. |
