In short
Turn on the general reminder policy: Constrigo chases your unpaid invoices at your chosen intervals, escalating level by level up to a formal notice.
In brief
Open Settings, "Reminders", and turn on "Invoice reminders". Constrigo then automatically chases unpaid invoices issued after this activation, at your intervals in days after the due date. With "Automatic escalation", each reminder moves up one level until the formal notice. This feature requires the Artisan plan and is reserved for the business owner.
Turn on the general reminder policy
- Open Settings, then "Reminders".
- Turn on "Invoice reminders". Also turn on "Quote reminders" if you want to chase pending quotes.
- Leave "Automatic escalation" on to move from the 1st to the 2nd and then the 3rd reminder, and on to the formal notice.
- Choose the "Default channel": Email, SMS or both.
The same settings are on the Reminders page, "Global policy" tab, along with the "Reminder intervals" card.

Set the intervals
- Open Reminders, "Global policy" tab.
- In "Reminder intervals", each row shows a delay in days after the due date (D+). By default: 30, 60 and 90 days.
- Change the values, click "Add an interval" or remove a step.
- Click "Save policy".
The first reminder is sent at the due date plus the first interval. The following ones follow the gap between two intervals: with 30, 60 and 90 days, a reminder is sent every 30 days.
Without automatic escalation, only one reminder is sent per invoice.
Schedule a reminder for a single invoice
- On the Reminders page, "Invoices" tab, click "Schedule" next to the invoice.
- In "Schedule automatic reminders", turn on "Enable automatic reminder".
- Choose the "Delay between reminders" (3, 7 or 14 days, or a custom number of days) and the "Sending channel", then save.
On mobile, the invoice sheet offers "Schedule a reminder": set the "Reminder delay" and the "Reminder channel", then tap "Save schedule". A reminder set on an invoice takes priority over the general policy.

What you need to know
- Only sent or overdue invoices are chased. An invoice that is paid, cancelled or fully covered by credit notes is no longer chased.
- Reminders stop after the formal notice, the 4th and final level.
- Turning on the policy does not chase your entire history at once: only documents issued after its first activation are affected.
- An SMS reminder requires a phone number in the customer record and is limited to 160 characters.
With no setup, email reminders are sent from Constrigo's sending address in your company's name. For them to be sent from your own address, configure Settings, "Email configuration", included from the Enterprise plan.
Going further
- Chase manually or send a formal notice: see "What to do when an invoice is overdue".
- Stop reminders after a payment: see "Record a payment on an invoice".
Frequently asked questions
Will my old unpaid invoices be chased?
No. The general policy only applies to documents issued after its first activation. For an older invoice, schedule a reminder from the Reminders page.
How do I stop reminders for an invoice?
Record the payment: a paid invoice is no longer chased. You can also turn off the scheduled reminder for that invoice.
What are the reminder levels?
1st reminder (courteous), 2nd reminder (firm), 3rd reminder (last chance), then formal notice.
Which plan do I need for automatic reminders?
The Artisan plan at minimum. Email sending works with no setup; for it to be sent from your own address, you need the Enterprise plan, which includes configuring your sending server.
